This CE program will provide professionals from many fields an invaluable framework for understanding the complex needs of grandparents and their grandchildren who have become a family system. It will examine the mental health, custodial, and legal issues faced by caregivers and will discuss the effects of chronic stress on the grandparents. Practitioners and professionals of all levels of experience are encouraged to attend!

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
– Identify and understand five issues common to family systems where grandparents are raising their grandchildren.
– Describe the behavioral and mental health challenges faced by both grandparents and grandchildren living together.
– Articulate the mutual needs of both grandchildren and their grandparents that bonds them together.
– Prepare to implement practical strategies and specific tools that will provide a safe space for grandchildren to feel valued, connected and thrive.
