Community Training: Case Management in Shelter – Building the Foundation Before Move Out
Date and Time: August 5; 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Location: Online via Zoom

Successful move outs start long before a household is housing ready. This session gives shelter and case management staff a structured way to build the foundation early, so housing barriers are identified up front instead of discovered closer to move out.
Attendees will be able to understand the role frontline shelter staff play in successful move outs, recognize early housing barriers during daily shelter interactions, know what to document, what to flag, and when to escalate concerns. The training will provide tools for how to support residents with realistic, sequenced goals instead of vague case plans, improve communication between residential staff, case managers, supervisors, and the household, use day-to-day observations to strengthen housing readiness and move-out planning, and build stronger case files before the household reaches the housing search stage.
