News Convention features new workshops; three weeks left to register

The Providers’ Council’s 44th Annual Convention & Expo: Everyone Counts. offers 36 educational workshops for every level of staff at an organization, from direct care staff to chief executive. The convention takes place on Monday, Oct. 7 in Boston, and all attendees may choose two workshops with their registration.

More than half of the sessions are being offered for the first time and cover a range of timely and important issues including addressing workforce challenges and self-care. Among the new offerings are Anticipating the Fraudster, to help attendees learn how to combat fraud in their organizations; and Hang on to Your Donors – Even After They’re Dead, that teaches how to engage in successful cultivation and stewardship of donors.

Also new this year is 2020 Census: What’s at Stake and What You Can Do, which will explain how nonprofits have a key role in getting out the count for next year’s decennial Census count, especially among underserved populations, immigrants and communities of color. Also new are Implementing a Successful Employee Wellness Program and On PAR: Increase Direct Care Job Satisfaction and Decrease Turnover. Some of the workshops qualify for CEUs. (Please see registration materials about the CEU process.)

The ever-popular Chat with the Commissioners are again being offered and the Council has received confirmation of attendance from the majority of the commissioners, including many of the commissioners who have been appointed during the last 12 months.

Convention registration is underway now through Friday, Sept. 27th, unless it sells out prior to that date. Complete workshop descriptions and presenters can be found here. The cost of registration includes all of the day’s events and activities, including the workshops, awards ceremonies, lunch and the Chair’s Reception.
