Providers’ Council and Suffolk University Matava and Weekes Scholarships

About the Scholarship

The Providers’ Council, in partnership with Suffolk University will offer a scholarship exclusively available to graduates of the Certificate in Nonprofit Human Service Management program. This Master of Public Administration Scholarship will grant two Suffolk University students a $5,000 award each towards tuition for the Master of Public Administration program.

 

Candidate Requirements

  • Candidates must have successfully completed the Providers’ Council’s Certificate in Nonprofit Human Service Management program at Suffolk University within the past seven years.
  • Candidates must be an employee of a Providers’ Council member agency in good standing.
  • Candidates must have worked at their agency for at least one year.
  • Candidates must currently be working at least 30 hours a week.
  • Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Candidates must show through their resume, personal statement and references, a commitment to the human services sector.
  • If newly applying to the Suffolk University Master of Public Administration program, the candidate must show evidence of acceptance, such as an acceptance letter.
  • If the candidate has already completed a portion of their graduate education, they must submit an official transcript from Suffolk University, demonstrating that earned credit grades in all courses were officially graded by the time of application.

 

Application Components

Completed applications must include the following:

  • Completed and signed application form;
  • Resume;
  • A personal statement 2-3 pages (double-spaced) on how a Master’s of Public Administration degree from Suffolk University will help you achieve your professional goals and further contribute to the human services sector;
  • A statement of financial need on how this scholarship affects your ability to attend the MPA program;
  • Two letters of professional and/or academic recommendation;
    • At least one letter of recommendation must come from the applicant’s supervisor discussing the candidate’s commitment to the field of human services, the contributions the candidate has made to their agency, and their potential to assume a leadership position within the agency.
  • A transcript from Certificate in Nonprofit Human Service Management Program; and
    • Please email Nicole Rivers at Suffolk University to with your name and certificate program year to receive your transcript.
  • Your letter of acceptance to the Master of Public Administration program at Suffolk University or your official transcript for the Master of Public Administration program at Suffolk University.
