The struggle for transgender/non-binary rights is the nascent civil rights issue of our time. We will share some specific and actionable strategies around supporting gender-expansive staff in this work. Join BAMSI’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team to learn how the trans and non-binary rights movement has progressed as well as common challenges faced by gender-inclusive employees. We will articulate ways that various departments within BAMSI came together to provide support and develop policy, and how your organization can improve support for gender-inclusive employees.
During this session, participants will:
– Understand the progression of the trans rights movement and challenges it has faced and how that relates to human services.
– Create tangible ways to offer support in the agency.
– Generate pathways to organizational collaboration and creating supportive policies.
