This webinar will introduce an adapted version of Motivational Interviewing tailored to address low rates of engagement in mental health and substance use treatment among diverse populations. Social stressors like discrimination and trauma will be considered as part of the increased risk of mental health disorders.
The session will also explore strategies for addressing medical mistrust, assessing readiness for collaboration, and using affirmation to support stigmatized populations. Attendees will gain practical tools to enhance treatment engagement and effectiveness in diverse communities.
