This presentation is offered as part of a William James College CE series that provides essential training in veteran-specific issues and is designed to equip mental health providers with the knowledge and competence needed to serve this population effectively.
This training focuses on the critical issues and distinctive needs of veterans struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental conditions. The presentation will provide an overview of current statistics on veteran substance use, explore key risk factors that contribute to use, and examine common barriers veterans and military members face when accessing care.
The program seeks to increase visibility and amplify access to evidence-based treatments and community recovery resources available to veterans to promote recovery, resilience, and improved quality of life.
Although this program focuses specifically on veterans’ culture, it is not exclusively applicable to them and can be applied to many subgroups.
Practitioners of all levels and experiences are encouraged to attend! This training has been approved for 1 CE for Psychologists, LMHCs and Social Work.
