The Caring Force Blog January 2026 Workforce Hero: Rose Louis

| Isabella A. Lee

The Caring Force is honored to announce Rose Cherley Jean Louis as our TCF January 2026 Workforce Hero Spotlight honoree. Louis works as Direct Support staff at North Suffolk Community Services. When speaking to her work, her supervisor said, “her care for the individuals is exceptional, she takes initiative, is flexible and her trainings are 100%.”

1. Tell us about your background.  How did you decide to pursue a career in human services?

My name is Rose Jean Louis. I’m a mother of two. I’ve been working for NSCS for over 20 years as a case manager at our Fenno street location in Chelsea.

I’ve always wanted to make a meaningful difference, however small, in the lives of those I serve. In hiring me, NSCS offered me that opportunity.

2. What does a typical day look like for you at your organization?

As a direct care staff professional in a level three house, upon my arrival, the first thing I do is clock in and review the communication log. I check on the individuals in the home and then proceed to my daily responsibilities. Each day brings different tasks and a different schedule!

3. What is your favorite professional memory?

One of my fondest memories was my first party at the Spinelli’s Function Hall in Peabody. I attended the party with each and every one of the residents I support in the home. We had so much fun. It was a really delightful day.

4. This question is from our December 2025 Hero, Laquinta Bryan: What advice would you offer to new professionals in the field of human services?

Each person has different methods and strategies to cope. In my case, in my day to day, I take small breaks and seek support from my supervisor when things become challenging. I also always make sure to take time off and vacations in order to relax and recharge!

5. Do you have a question for the next person we spotlight?

How do you make a difference in the lives of those you served?

A heartfelt thank you to Rose and every human service worker across Massachusetts! The compassion, hope, and dedication you bring to your work each day transforms lives and strengthens our communities. Your efforts don’t go unnoticed—we’re incredibly grateful for all you do.
