On August 2, the U.S. Senate released the text of a continuing resolution (CR) to keep the federal government open and funded through December 11. The CR also includes a key provision to temporarily delay U.S. Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB) ability to finalize and implement its proposal to overhaul federal grantmaking.
If enacted, a delay would provide advocates with more time to educate members of Congress and the public about how harmful the regulation is, and hopefully, prevent it from being finalized altogether.
The Senate is currently voting on the CR. If the CR passes the Senate, it will need to go back to the U.S. House of Representatives for approval before heading to the president’s desk for his signature. Congress has until October 1 to enact a CR, or it risks a government shutdown.
