News Council urges support of Rep. Moulton’s Save the Organizations that Serve (SoS) America Act

The Providers’ Council is urging federal lawmakers to support a proposal by U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton  to help  nonprofits in the next round of coronavirus stimulus funding.

In a letter to U.S. Rep. Richard Neal, chair of the House Committee on Ways and Means, Council President & CEO Michael Weekes urged more support for the community-based human services sector, especially larger human services providers – those employing more than 500 people – which were were omitted from the recent federal relief CARES Act.

The letter asks for the 500-employee cap to be lifted so all 501(c)(3) nonprofits to be eligible for the SBA loans created in the CARES Act and employees at larger nonprofits to be eligible for the paid sick leave and wage replacement provisions of the CARES Act.  Read the full text of the letter here.
