News Council hosts advocacy meeting with Emergency Assistance Family Shelter providers

The Providers’ Council hosted an introductory Zoom meeting with its members who provide Emergency Assistance Family Shelter services today to work more closely together on advocacy as the state’s shelter system is at crisis levels and experiencing unprecedented demand.

The Council intends to hold regular advocacy meetings with Emergency Assistance Family Shelter providers going forward. To join the calls, please email Bill Yelenak.

At the first meeting, the Council introduced its public policy team, discussed the state of the EA Family Shelter system and connected with providers about their major concerns. The Council also touched on language in the Governor’s House 2 budget that would subject EA Family Shelter services to a rate-setting process similar to Chapter 257 of the Acts of 2008.
