News Council and members send letter to Ways & Means urging level CIES funding in FY ’25

The Providers’ Council and 11 of its members that provide Competitive Integrated Employment Services (CIES) – the state’s only welfare-to-work program – sent a letter today to the Chairs of the Joint Committee on Ways & Means, Rep. Aaron Michlewitz and Sen. Michael Rodrigues, urging members of the committee to ensure at least level funding for the program in the FY ’25 budget.

The program, overseen by the Department of Transitional Assistance, has helped individuals who are chronically unemployed or underemployed rejoin the workforce, allowing participants to find jobs and secure gainful employment.

“As the Commonwealth continues to rebound from the impact the pandemic had on our state and its residents, the CIES program is critical to the employment of individuals in our Commonwealth, particularly now in an uncertain economy,” the letter reads.
