News Advance Your Career in Human Services: Access Tuition-Free College Courses Across Massachusetts!

Interested in advancing your career in human services? The Council’s Tuition Remission program may be able to help you get the costs of your continuing education covered!

The Tuition Remission program was created to help human service employees gain access to college education. Since, more than 400 organizations have participated in this program, helping more than 4,000 workers attend over 20,000 classes with tuition remission at state colleges.

The program applies to state-supported undergraduate courses at Massachusetts state colleges, community colleges, or state universities (excluding UMASS Medical School) and is based on space availability.

How does Tuition Remission Work?

Eligible employees of participating organizations can fill out a Certificate of Eligibility for each course they would like to take. The Certificate, which is signed by a human resource representative and an executive at their agency, is submitted to the Council for processing. Once the Certificate has been processed by the Council, the employee brings certificate to the school’s bursar to receive tuition remission.

Participating employees are responsible for paying all school fees, books and other associated course costs. Only tuition is remitted. A separate Certificate of Eligibility must be submitted for each course. Please note, this is NOT a reimbursement program.

Processing, registration, and renewal fees are required from participating human service employers to support the administration of this program.
