Council member statements on terrorist attacks in Israel

May Institute:

Last weekend the Hamas terrorist organization committed a horrific land, sea, and air attack against Israel. This attack has been documented with graphic images being widely shared across television and social media. Thousands of Jewish people, including children and the elderly, have been brutally murdered, injured, and taken hostage by Hamas. Israel responded with a declaration of war and an immediate counterattack of air strikes on Gaza. Israeli and Palestinian civilians are being killed as a result of this violence, and millions continue to live at risk and in fear for their lives.

War often ignites dangerous rhetoric and hate crimes around the globe, and we condemn all forms of terrorism, antisemitism and Islamophobia. Many members of our May community have cultural ties to Israel and Palestine and are deeply affected by this crisis. We mourn all the innocent lives lost and wish for an immediate end to this suffering and violence.

Northeast Arc:

Last weekend the Hamas terrorist organization committed a horrific land, sea, and air attack against Israel. This attack has been documented with graphic images being widely shared across television and social media. Thousands of Jewish people, including children, people with disabilities and the elderly, have been brutally murdered, injured, and taken hostage by Hamas. At this point, among the thousands of dead and captured; 22 Americans are dead and 17 are missing. All these numbers are likely to rise.

Israel responded with a declaration of war and an immediate counterattack on Gaza. Israeli and Palestinian civilians are being killed as a result of this violence, and millions continue to live at risk and in fear for their lives.

War often ignites dangerous rhetoric and hate crimes around the globe, and we condemn all forms of terrorism, antisemitism and Islamophobia. Many members of our Northeast Arc community have personal and cultural ties to Israel and Palestine and are deeply affected by this crisis. We mourn all the innocent lives lost and wish for an immediate end to this suffering and violence.

TILL, Inc:

The horrific attacks by Hamas on Israel in the past week are beyond comprehension. As an agency, our very existence is based on the belief that diversity makes us stronger. We exist to protect the rights of everyone to live peacefully in their homes.

Terrorism only leads to more aggression and destruction. It ruins the progress we have all made and fuels more hatred of groups without understanding one another.

This violence has caused immense suffering and murders of innocent people. Many TILL employees, individuals and families have roots and connections to Israel . Let’s support our TILL colleagues who are directly impacted by this war. Jewish children, adults and families are witnessing a rise in anti-semitism locally and globally that will be further fueled by the actions of this past week. It is only a short step to finding it acceptable to have the same treatment inflicted on the people we have worked so hard to create engaged lives without fear of their differences.

Israel has come to the aid of the United States when it needed it most as in the 911 terrorist attacks and the Boston Marathon attacks. Let’s support a message of peace and an end to this violence as we stand behind Israel and all who are impacted by this devastation.

WORK, Inc:

We have been remiss in acknowledging and commenting on the Hamas Terrorist’s surprise brutal, deadly attack on innocent women, children, families, and citizens of Israel on October 7th.

The documentation and graphic images of this unprovoked attack have been shared worldwide and has ignited a counteroffensive by the State of Israel justifiably defending itself.

The thousands of Jewish people killed and over 150 taken hostage, including Americans, as well as hundreds of Palestinian civilians have resulted in a Mid-East that is on the verge of making a tragic situation worse.

Many members of the WORK, Inc community have personal and cultural ties to Israel, Palestine, and the Middle East. We mourn all the lost lives, those who are injured, and hope for a safe return of the hostages.  We wish and pray for an immediate end to the violence.
