Ten leaders of the community-based human services sector were honored at the Providers’ Council’s 50th Annual Convention & Expo: 50 Years Together: Celebrating Today, Shaping Tomorrow today, receiving educational scholarships totaling $50,000 from the Council to further their education at local colleges:
Iris Medina from Thom Child & Family Services was awarded the Graduate Leadership scholarship ($10,000).
Shania Calle from The Home for Little Wanderers was awarded the Foreign-Born Leader scholarship ($5,000).
Walter Kikuchi from Victory Programs and Sean Terry from Pine Street Inn were both awarded the Matava and Weekes Scholarships ($5,000).
The winners of the Council’s Collegiate scholarships ($5,000) included John Allan Bent Alzate, Volunteers of America; Vivian Juliao de Oliveira, The Home for Little Wanderers; Matthew O’Brien, Bridgewell; Natacha Pierre-Louis, Making Opportunity Count; and Candida Ramirez, Safe Passage Inc.
