Join NASW-MA for a 90-minute virtual workshop designed to support social workers in deepening their understanding of LGBTQIA2S+ communities and building affirming, equity-centered practices. Whether you’re just beginning your learning journey or looking to refresh your knowledge, this introductory session will explore foundational concepts and real-world strategies for creating safer, more inclusive environments for LGBTQIA2S+ communities, with a particular focus on transgender, gender-diverse, and intersex (TGDI) individuals. Participants will leave better equipped with practical tools, language tips, and deeper insight to better support LGBTQIA2S+ communities in both macro and clinical settings.
This introductory workshop approaches LGBTQIA2S+ cultural competency through an intersectional lens and takes into account how race, gender, disability, class, and other identities shape community members’ lived experiences and influence access to affirming care.
