An estimated record number of Massachusetts voters went to the polls in November to elect federal and state officials, and vote on five ballot questions.
On the federal side, Republicans hold the presidency, the Senate, and the House. America elected former President Donald Trump to the presidency. He’s nominated Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as health and human services secretary and Dr. Mehmet Oz to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services.
Commonwealth voters also weighed in on five ballot questions, granting the auditor’s office the power to scrutinize legislative finances, eliminating the MCAS exam as a high school graduation requirement and allowing ride-share app drivers to unionize and collectively bargain for better working conditions. They rejected ballot measures to legalize the use of psychedelics and to increase the tipped minimum wage to $15/hour.
