COVID-19 has unmasked our current socio-political crisis; tensions have never been higher and social workers are on the frontlines. On a daily basis we witness the economic, racial and cultural oppression our clients are experiencing. While a commitment to antiracist and anti-oppressive practice is now a core competency of social work education, many clinical social workers may struggle to explore, discuss and intervene around the effects of systemic oppression with the individuals and families they work with. This presentation will introduce clinical social workers to the liberation health framework: a social justice-focused method of clinical practice which integrates analysis of cultural, social and political forces with traditional clinical models.

This session is approved for 1.5 CEUs for Social Work.
