The Providers’ Council will host a luncheon seminar, Unleash the Power of the Human Services Ecosystem, on Wednesday, April 11th at the Beechwood Hotel in Worcester, to present a new look at who we are as an industry. The forum will follow the Council’s Annual Business and Membership meeting.
During the seminar, Susan Dreyfus, President and CEO of Alliance for Strong Families and Communities, will share information from A National Imperative: Joining Forces to Strengthen Human Services in America. This report focuses on the transformational potential of the human services ecosystem to make substantial contributions to a strong and vibrant US economy; the building of our nation’s greatest asset, our people; and the ability to change ways dollars are being spent in deep-end, high-cost systems with chronically poor outcomes. Dreyfus will go over the causes and solutions that will be necessary to unleash the power of the human services ecosystem.
Additionally, longtime Council partners Christina Citino, of the University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute, and Michael Goodman, of UMass Dartmouth’s Public Policy Center, will provide empirical data on a primary element of human services effectiveness in Massachusetts: the sector’s workforce. They will provide new details on a number of characteristics, including student loan debt and the financial challenges staff face to remain in the industry.
The presentation will include new data on overall size of our Massachusetts workforce and estimated projections to meet the demand for services. They’ll also give a clearer picture of who we are as a sector, including gender, ethnicity, and foreign-born population that make up our community-based provider workforce.
All members are invited to attend the Annual Business Meeting from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The forum, open to everyone, will take place from noon to 2:30 p.m. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m.
