(Addressed to Employees of Fidelity House CRC)

As we witness the rise of racial tensions, triggered by the recent killing of George Floyd and the countless others since this nation was founded, I want everyone to know that Fidelity House CRC stands on the side of justice and equality. In this organization, there is zero tolerance for discrimination and disrespect of any kind towards anyone we support or employ.

At Fidelity House CRC, we acknowledge and honor the fundamental value and dignity of all individuals. We pledge ourselves to creating and maintaining an ethical and compassionate environment that respects the diversity, traditions, and experiences of all whom we serve and employ as well as the community at large.  The collective history of people with disabilities in this country is intermingled with that of people who have been discriminated against for centuries. The work we do today was founded by the work for equality and justice that was begun so many years ago by civil rights activists, like Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks.

As human service workers, it is our role to actively take part in supporting equality and justice for all people. I am outraged by the events taking place in our country today and also deeply sad. I hope you join me in denouncing hate and violence against any person or group. I know that our commonalities are greater than our divisions, and I will continue to work tirelessly towards a more inclusive society.

I couldn’t be more proud of the rich diversity represented within the Fidelity CRC community.

Please practice kindness and compassion.

I stand with you.
