The Providers’ Council is turning 50 in 2025! In celebration of this milestone, the Council will be running a series of Throwback Thursday posts throughout the year commemorating some of the Council’s most important milestones in its first 50 years. This week, the Council wants to highlight the creation of the Human Services Providers Charitable Foundation, Inc 1989.
The foundation provides support to CareVote, the Council’s non-partisan voter engagement initiative that encourages voter registration drives and promotes get-out-the-vote efforts to mobilize voters on Election Day. CareVote and the charitable foundation work with local partners, including MassVote, and national partners, including Nonprofit VOTE and National Voter Registration Day.
The mission of the Human Services Providers Charitable Foundation is to:
- promote the vision and values of community care;
- improve community care practices;
- encourage idealistic leadership development; and
- disseminate information which informs public policy and enhances public awareness.
In addition to publishing a number of research reports with various partners — including the University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute, UMass Dartmouth and the Public Consulting Group — the charitable foundation also manages a number of Providers’ Council initiatives.
The foundation is funded by tax-deductible gifts from corporations, foundations and individuals.
