The Providers’ Council is turning 50 in 2025! In celebration of this milestone, the Council will be running a series of Throwback Thursday posts throughout the year commemorating some of the Council’s most important milestones in its first 50 years. This week, the Council wants to highlight its 20th Annual Convention & Expo in 1995.
With more than 1,000 attendees, the Council’s 20th anniversary convention was also its largest to date at the time. It also introduced new elements, including the first exhibitor tables. Attendees also heard from Ann W. Richards, a former governor of Texas, as its keynote speaker. Gloria Johnson-Powell also spoke during the luncheon portion of the event. She was the first African American woman to receive tenure at Harvard University’s Medical School.
The convention not only marked an important anniversary for the Council, but a change in its most well-known event. The Council has continued to expand its offerings at the annual conventions, including more educational workshops, awards for incredible members of the sector in Massachusetts and so much more.
This year, the Council will celebrate its 50th convention, which will take place on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Marriot-Copley Place Hotel in Boston. For more information about the convention, please click here.
