News New guidance, tools for complying with Equal Pay law

The Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General has issued guidance and created a new website and webinar series to help employers comply with the state’s amended Equal Pay Act that goes into effect on July 1, 2018.

According to a press release from AG Maura Healey, the Massachusetts Equal Pay Act “provides greater clarity as to what constitutes gender-based wage discrimination, adds new protections for workers, and incentivizes employers to address gender-based pay disparities.”

Released March 1 in an effort to ensure employers have ample time to prepare for and comply with the new law when it goes into effect, the new guidance (found here) includes detailed information on a dedicated website. The online resources include a pay calculation tool and a step-by-step guide for employers that choose to conduct a self-evaluation.

The AG’s Office will also be partnering with business associations and others on a series of webinars and events to provide employers of all sizes with the chance to ask questions about the new law, the press release said. Click here for more information.
