News New fall lineup features exciting trainings, workshops

Back to school doesn’t have to mean just the kids. The Providers’ Council is building an impressive fall lineup of professional development opportunities, beginning in September.

On Friday, Sept. 28 the Council and The Institute of Student Loan Advisors (TISLA) will host an information session on the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program from 10 a.m. to noon at Tempus Unlimited in Stoughton. The session, which provides information to both employees and employers about the PSLF program, will be led by expert Betsy Mayotte, CEO of TISLA. Register here.

A fall edition of the six-week Certificate in Supervision Series will take place at The Bridge of Central Mass. in Worcester on Tuesdays, beginning Oct. 9th. The Supervision Series, which regularly sells out, covers Communications & Leadership; Conflict Management; Situational Leadership; Team Building; Performance Management; and Group Planning and Decision Making. A new training focusing on employee retention, Partner with Your People: Engaging Talent Development, will be held Friday, Oct. 12 at Bridgewell in Peabody. The workshop will help supervisors and managers learn how to increase engagement and retention by working with and developing the unique talents each employee brings to the table. Learn more.

A waitlist is available for the new, two-day offering, Success as a New Supervisor, on Oct. 4th and 18th. The sessions will help current supervisors and those considering a supervisory role to learn what skills are required of today’s leaders and how leadership differs from management; to practice the core skills needed by new supervisors; and to understand how to increase staff engagement and competence. A fall session of the popular Conducting Effective Internal Investigations training is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Justice Resource Institute in Needham. Led by expert investigator Jean Haertl, the intensive, interactive session runs from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Participants will conduct an investigation and receive one-on-one feedback.

And also just added is Dealing with Difficult People and Situations, which is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 28 in Framingham at Justice Resource Institute. Trainer Jim Ognibene of Visioneer Consulting will help participants learn strategies for navigating tough situations and managing difficulty; how to re-frame challenges or setbacks for positive outcomes; understand behaviors associated with different personalities, and more.
