The Joint Committee for Ways & Means will hold public hearings at various locations around the state in March to gather input for the Fiscal Year 2019 budget. Sessions are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
Upcoming sessions of note to Council members are:
Friday, March 2, Roxbury Community College’s Media Arts Center, Roxbury: First of two sessions focusing on the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS), including the Office of Medicaid, Department of Public Health, Department of Mental Health, Department of Developmental Services, Elder Affairs and Veterans Affairs.
Monday, March 12, Berkshire Community College (The Connector Room), Pittsfield: Second EOHHS session, including Department of Children and Families, Department of Youth Services, Department of Transitional Assistance, Mass. Rehab Commission, Mass. Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Mass. Commission for the Blind and the Office of Refugees.
Tuesday, March 13, Everett High School Library, Everett: Hearing will include the Department of Housing and Community Development.
Wednesday, March 14, Gardner Auditorium, Massachusetts State House, Boston: This is a public hearing for any section of the budget.
Monday, March 19, Peabody City Hall, Wiggin Auditorium, Peabody: The hearing will be for all education agencies, including Department of Early Education and Care.
Providers’ Council members are encouraged to attend the meetings and testify in support of funding for your programs. Caring Force members are encouraged to attend wearing your gold TCF T-shirts. The House Ways & Means Committee is scheduled to release its FY ’19 budget proposal on Wednesday, April 11. Governor Charlie Baker’s H2 budget was released in January.
