Gov. Maura Healey today announced the appointment of Kate Walsh as the new Secretary of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, following the retirement of Marylou Sudders earlier in the month.
Walsh previously served as the CEO of the Boston Medical Center Health System for 13 years and “expanded telehealth, bolstered regional resource management and collaborated with state and local government to deliver on health equity, affordability and behavioral health care,” according to Healey.
Walsh has also been a long-time board member of Pine Street Inn.
Healey had appointed Mary Beckman as interim secretary of EOHHS earlier this month. Beckman, previously the chief of the Health Care and Fair Competition Bureau in the attorney general’s office, will now serve as senior advisor to Walsh.
