Cross-Cultural Communication (Sold Out!)

Online via Zoom

This training is designed to help participants understand the breadth and depth of “culture” – personal and organizational – and how it unconsciously has positive and negative impacts on our daily interactions and communication.

This session is currently sold out!

Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on their own cultural values and norms, as well as learn about those of their colleagues. Concepts such as High and Low Context Communication and the LEARN model are presented as tools for improving effective communication across cultural differences. The session includes group discussions about the impacts of personal and organizational culture on work with clients and small group skill practices to apply the tools.

This training will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13th online via Zoom.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss their own cultural attitudes towards health, medical care, education, family, privacy and authority;
  • Identify how their cultural attitudes and beliefs can help or hinder their effectiveness working cross-culturally;
  • Identify personal strengths in cross-cultural communication and actions for development; and
  • Identify and apply strategies for most effectively educating and negotiating behavior change with clients/people from a cultural experience different from their own.
