Deb Donnelly, Developmental Disabilities Service Director at Open Sky, summarized her gratitude in saying, “I wish every program could have a “Fallah” on their team.”
1. Tell us about your background. How did you decide to pursue a career in human services?
I decided to pursue a career in Human Services because growing up I helped take care of my siblings. When I came to America from Nigeria, my first job was working in this field, and I fell in love with it from the start.
2. What is your favorite professional memory?
One of my favorite memories is working with one of the first individuals who had unique communications skills and I could communicate with her well in my own way. I also enjoy seeing individuals laughing and being happy.
3. The pandemic has been ongoing for more than a year. How have you coped with its challenges?
It has been challenging, but we have worked to do the best we can do for the individuals. I think we have adjusted well.
4. This question is from our February 2022 TCF Workforce Hero Spotlight, Woody Donis: What motivates you to succeed in your job?
Knowing that every day is a new learning experience. Also, my peers motivate me because we are all there to do our best for those we help.
5. Do you have a question for the next person we spotlight?
What accomplishments/success have you had working with the individuals at your agency/organization?
Thank you so much to Fallah and all of our wonderful human services workers who bring joy and passion to work every day! We are so thankful for your efforts and for making the Commonwealth a better place.
