In September 2017, some federal student loan borrowers became eligible for debt relief through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program (PSLF). Department of Education data, as well as anecdotal information from borrowers, suggests that many borrowers who are eligible for the program do not have a clear understanding of how this program works or may not know of its existence at all. The Providers’ Council is hosting an in-person information session with The Institute of Student Loan Advisors (TISLA) to help widen public understanding of the PSLF program and its eligibility criteria. Participants will gain an understanding of the PSLF program and employers can learn how this program can be used to recruit and retain quality employees.
The Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program Information Session will be held Friday, September 28th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Tempus Unlimited, Inc. in Stoughton.
In this session, you will learn:
- What loans are potentially eligible for PSLF;
- How to apply;
- How to maintain eligibility for the program; and
- How employers can use PSLF for recruitment and retention.
Presented by:
- Betsy Mayotte, President, The Institute of Student Loan Advisors (TISLA)
