Race, Diversity and Inclusion

Representation matters. Inclusivity matters.

Since 2016, the Providers’ Council has increased our efforts in promoting race, diversity and inclusion initiatives for our members. We created a Race, Diversity and Inclusion Committee which strives to create communities of respect, tolerance and inclusion within the human services sector and the communities in which we live and work. Our objective is to broaden awareness and understanding within our racial, ethnic, gender, faith, nationalities and  other identities by embracing  diversity through knowledge, practice, and advocacy.

At the heart of human services is the unwavering commitment to fairness, respect, and dignity—especially for the most vulnerable among us. Many of our organizations’ work is rooted in the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, accessibility, and justice, and we recognize that these principles must continue to guide our efforts.

Representation matters. Inclusivity matters. When staff and clients feel seen, valued, and supported, our sector is stronger, our impact is greater, and our communities thrive. As we move forward, some of our approaches may evolve, but our core values remain steadfast. We are committed to advancing policies, practices, and spaces that ensure every person—regardless of background, identity, or ability—has the opportunity to succeed and be treated with respect and dignity.

For decades, we have stood alongside our Provider members, helping them meet their missions and strengthening the human services workforce. We will continue this work with integrity, credibility, and responsibility, ensuring that our sector remains a leader in fostering a just and inclusive society. Together, we must build a future where equity is not just an aspiration, but a reality.

This calendar marks multi-cultural celebrations, holidays, days of remembrance and days of awareness, along with monthly and multi-week celebrations. In addition to the calendar, the BAMSI team has created a short description of the holiday and curated additional resources for people to further educate themselves on the celebrations.
