The Caring Force is pleased to announce the October Member Spotlight honoree is Allison Brennan, an Employment Specialist at PRIDE, Inc.
Allison not only helps her clients find the perfect job, but she also acts as a mentor, advocate and shoulder to lean on when needed. Her co-workers describe her as a team player who always treats her clients with respect and dignity while inspiring them to develop their skills and explore new possibilities.
Here’s what Allison had to say about working in human services:
Organization: PRIDE, Inc.
Years in human services: 5
Best professional memory: My best professional memory would have to be finding community employment for my case load. When I first started the employment piece of human services, I didn’t know how I would be at it. Once I started getting my clients jobs – one by one – I knew this was a good fit for me as a profession. The role is a good fit for me and I can’t imagine doing anything else.
When did you know that you wanted to join the human services sector and what keeps you energized every day? (Question from Jean Oliveira at Bristol Elder Services):
I honestly knew I wanted to be in the human services sector when I was a teenager at camp in the summer time. There were individuals with disabilities, and I wanted to help them, make friends with them and make them smile! The thing that gets me energized each day is making a difference in individuals’ lives. This makes me happy and keeps me going each and every day.
Question for the next member spotlight honoree: If there is one thing you could change in your job, what would it be?
P.S. If you know someone who inspires clients and embodies the spirit of The Caring Force, please nominate them on our website or email Christine Batista at christine@providers.org for more information about our Spotlight program.
