SUMMARY:Workshop Series: Surefire Retention Strategies When You Can't Compete on Pay
DESCRIPTION:Date and Time: May 21\, May 28\, June 4 and June 11; all sessions 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. \nLocation: Online via Zoom \nIntended Audience: Human Resources\, Supervisors & Managers\, Executive Leadership \nLearning Tracks: Workforce Development & Staff Engagement\, Leadership & Organizational Development \nFunding pressures. State restrictions on compensation. A revolving door with frequent turnover. The impact of lower retention rates is\, ultimately\, that your organization can’t make the impact it wants to in your community. \nIn this 4-part series\, we’ll examine the issues that impair your impact. Better yet\, we’ll offer real\, practical\, tactical\, no-cost solutions that you can implement immediately to improve the employee experience and boost your retention rates. Yes\, you can retain employees even though they could find jobs elsewhere that pay more money! \nOur solutions will be evidence-based and field-tested. Our interactive workshops will include idea exchanges with others who face exactly the same challenges that you do. You’ll have a takeaway assignment each week + job aids to help you get started with each strategy. \nAttendance at all 4 sessions is required to receive a certificate of completion. This session has been submitted for 6 PDCs for SHRM. \nPlease note that registrations are for the complete series. \nRegister Here! \n  \nSessions: \n– Session I: What to Stop Doing… It’s Backfiring Despite Your Good Intentions \nYour company culture has taken a hit post-pandemic and – despite your best intentions – it’s been really difficult to bounce back. Low retention and low engagement are constant headaches. Managers have given up and are inadvertently exacerbating the problem. In an effort to protect or spare employees\, your managers could actually be depriving them of opportunities that would improve morale and boost retention! \n– Session II: Servant Leadership: It May Not Be What You Think It Is \nThe term “servant leadership” is so appealing that many adopt it or favor it without fully understanding it. Those misunderstandings can be costly to leaders who exhibit behaviors that are overly protective and deprive employees of opportunities to learn and grow. Learn how to embed the ideals of servant leadership in your company culture without compromising employee engagement or business growth. Find out what’s really needed in management and how talent development and delegating are the missing links that so many overlook when they attempt servant leadership. \n– Session III: The Links between Employee Engagement & Organizational Impact \nThe most effective and highly esteemed managers know that their job is about both managing work AND leading people. They develop the skills that set them apart and unleash engagement. In this workshop\, we’ll focus on the specific skills that highly effectively managers rely on to enable\, ennoble\, empower\, engage and inspire employees. We’ll also talk about the HR practices and company-wide mixed messages that inadvertently inhibit engagement. \n– Session IV: Putting People First to Build Organizational Strength \nOrganizations grow when people grow. People grow when they feel rooted in an organization. It may seem like a “chicken or egg” question: Which comes first? People grow because they stay or people stay because they grow? Research tells us that people stay in organizations they feel emotionally connected to… organizations that give them a sense of belonging and purpose… organizations that invest in their growth… organizations that dignify them\, solicit their ideas\, encourage them to use their voice… organizations where they feel trusted and valued. \n  \nPresented by: \nDeb Calvert\, President\, People First Productivity Solutions\nFounder\, People First Leadership Academy\nAuthor\, DISCOVER Questions® for Connections\, Clarity & Control \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nCost: \nMember price: $200  $175 (complete series price) \nNon-member price: $500  $475 (complete series price) \nPlease note that registrations are for the complete series. \n  \n  \nCancellation Policy: Reimbursement only for cancellations received at least 5 business days before the event. \nConfirmation Policy: We only send confirmations via email. Please email Nina Lamarre at nlamarre@providers.org if you do not receive a confirmation email. \n\nAccommodation Policy: We will do our best to accommodate individuals needing services. Requests for accommodations need to be made at least 14 days prior to the scheduled webinar\, workshop or training event. Please indicate the specific type of service being requested.

SUMMARY:Associate Member Workshop: Clinical Applications of Polyvagal Theory
DESCRIPTION:Date and Time: March 20; 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. \nLocation: Online via Zoom \n**Please note this session is hosted by Boston College Continuing Education. Any questions regarding the session should be directed to continuinged@bc.edu. \nPolyvagal Theory provides a framework for working with a client’s dysregulated nervous system. It allows us to understand the biological drive for safety and connection\, and ways in which people adapt when those things aren’t available. Trauma can get locked in the body\, and sometimes verbal interventions aren’t enough. This workshop will provide education on the guiding principles of Polyvagal Theory\, and will guide you through exercises that you can do with clients who might have more habitual survival responses. In learning the concepts of autonomic hierarchy\, neuroception\, and co-regulation\, you will walk away with tools to immediately apply to clinical practice. You will also learn how to use your own nervous system to help your clients access safety and regulation. \nThis session offers 3 CEUs for Social Work.  \nRegister Here! \n  \nLearning Objectives: \n– Participants will gain an understanding of the main tenets of Polyvagal Theory and how to apply it in clinical practice. \n– Participants will walk away with clinical interventions for helping clients increase their ability to regulate their nervous systems. \n– Participants will engage in exercises to gain firsthand experience of the interventions. \n  \nPresented by: \nVicky Brandt\, LMHC \n  \nCost: \n$90

SUMMARY:Managing Diverse Teams for Exceptional Performance
DESCRIPTION:Date and Time: March 10; 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. \nLocation: Online via Zoom \nIntended Audience: Human Resources\, Supervisors & Managers\, Leadership \nLearning Tracks: Equity\, Justice & Culturally Responsive Practice; Leadership & Organizational Development \n \nOrganizations today are more diverse across culture\, generation\, thinking styles\, values\, and lived experience than ever. Yet many leaders are quietly asking the same question: “Why aren’t we seeing the performance gains that come with diverse teams?” \nThe truth is simple but uncomfortable: Diversity alone does not drive results\, the art of effective management of the team does. This highly engaging workshop equips leaders with the practical skills\, tools\, and behaviors required to turn diversity into measurable performance\, innovation\, trust\, and engagement. This is a leadership performance accelerator and not a traditional DEI session. \nLeaders today face an anti-DEIB landscape\, increased team tension and miscommunication coupled with fear of saying the “wrong thing” and declining engagement instead of innovation\, which leads to diverse teams that exist but don’t fully perform. At the same time\, research consistently shows that inclusive leadership drives better decisions\, faster execution and stronger retention\, and that teams with high psychological safety outperform peers. This session bridges the gap between diversity and results. \nThe future belongs to leaders who can lead across differences with clarity\, courage\, and competence. This workshop equips leaders to translate it into exceptional performance that transforms teams and organizations. \nRegister Here! \n  \nAt the end of this session\, participants will be able to: \n \n– Create psychological safety that unlocks ideas\, honesty\, and innovation \n– Manage conflict across cultures\, styles\, and perspectives productively \n– Increase engagement and accountability simultaneously \n– Implement leadership behaviors that immediately elevate team performance \n  \nPresented by: \nStephen Osei-Bonsu\, MBA\, MA\, BSc\, Lead Consultant & Trainer\, Scensob Consulting \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nCost: \nMembers: $50 \nNon-members: $125 \n  \nCancellation Policy: Reimbursement only for cancellations received at least 5 business days before the event. \nConfirmation Policy: We only send confirmations via email. DESCRIPTION:Date and Time: March 3; 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. \nLocation: Virtual \n**Please note this session is hosted by Bridgewell’s Center for Professional Development. Any questions regarding the session should be directed to kjanjar@bridgewell.org. \nEating disorders fall under the category of “emotional disorders\,” meaning that individuals who struggle often tend to avoid situations that bring up difficult or uncomfortable emotions. Because avoidance often serves as a maintaining factor for emotional disorders\, it is essential to incorporate interventions that promote emotional approach rather than avoidance. Doing so can increase emotional tolerance and reduce reliance on eating disorder behaviors as coping strategies. \nThis workshop will examine the maintaining factors of eating disorders\, identify how avoidance patterns manifest\, and explore the core principles of exposure therapy. Participants will learn how to design and implement exposures that are creative\, safe\, and effective in promoting emotional flexibility and recovery. Attendees will also learn how to work alongside a multidisciplinary team and further clarify their role as a clinician\, even without an eating disorder specialty. Eating disorders rarely exist alone\, and so this workshop will also be useful for clinicians who have clients struggling with multiple comorbidities\, such as anxiety\, OCD\, and trauma. \nRegister Here! \n  \nAt the conclusion of this training\, participants should be able to: \n– Describe 5 common maintaining factors for eating disorders.\n– Identify 3 different types of emotional avoidance and provide specific examples as they relate to folks struggling with eating disorders.\n– Explain how to walk a client through an exposure hierarchy and plan for exposures. \n  \nPresented by: \nLacey Vogel\, LMHC \nAngela Kaloudis\, LMHC\, PMH-C \n  \nCost: \n$79 \n**Mass State Employees may attend this training for free

SUMMARY:Provider Member Training: Strategies for Supporting Youth after a Caregiver’s Overdose
DESCRIPTION:Date and Time: February 12; 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. \nLocation: Virtual \n**Please note this session is hosted by Bridgewell’s Center for Professional Development. Any questions regarding the session should be directed to kjanjar@bridgewell.org. \nWhile both fatal and nonfatal overdoses have begun to decline in the past few years\, the numbers of overdoses in the US are still in the many hundreds of thousands each year. Many people who witness or experience the fallout of an overdose\, whether fatal or non-fatal\, report experiencing the event as traumatic. This can be especially true for young people who often do not understand what is happening or why. \nWhen children and youth do not have adequate support in the aftermath of a potentially traumatic event they often internalize the experience in unhealthy and potentially harmful ways. Using case studies and interactive discussions\, this training will provide a foundation for understanding addiction and overdose and ways that children and youth often experience and respond to potentially traumatic events and grief. \nIt will introduce strategies for talking to and supporting young people and helping their caregivers with supporting them\, both in the immediate aftermath of a caregiver overdose and longer term. Participants will be given opportunities to practice some of the strategies. The training will emphasize the importance of self and community care for providers doing this work. \nRegister Here! \n  \nAt the conclusion of this training\, participants should be able to: \n– Identify risk factors\, protective factors and warning signs for substance use disorders \n– Describe the scope of fatal and nonfatal overdoses in the US \n– Name three potential ways that the impact of a caregiver overdose could show up for and impact a child \n– Differentiate between indicators that a child is experiencing grief versus trauma \n– Demonstrate different ways to support youth both in the immediate aftermath of a caregiver overdose and longer term \n  \nPresented by: \nJoanna Bridger\, LICSW\, Director\, Safety\, Hope\, & Healing Counseling & Consulting \n  \nCost: \n$79 \n**Mass State Employees may attend this training for free
