SUMMARY:Provider Member Webinar: Safety and Medication Concerns Facing Older Drivers Today
DESCRIPTION:Date and Time: August 25; 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. \nLocation: Online via Zoom \n**Please note this session is hosted by Conversations for Caring. Any questions regarding the session should be directed to lbulkley@glss.net. \nOperating a vehicle is sometimes problematic for older drivers\, and new classes of medications and adverse interactions can affect the abilities of even the most skilled drivers. In this webinar we’ll explore the adverse effects of what providers and individuals should be aware of as the landscape of over-the-counter medications and prescription drugs grows more complicated. We will also look at Massachusetts’ self-reporting policy: If an individual has a medical condition that affects their driving\, they must self-report to the RMV at the time the condition appears/occurs\, regardless of license renewal period. We’ll also review older driver safety measures including the risks facing older and potentially unsafe drivers. \nThis session offers 1.5 CEUs for Social Work\, Nursing\, LADC and LMHC.  \nRegister Here! \n  \nPresented by: \nAbby Winter\, Associate Teaching Professor of Pharmacy\, University of Washington\nMichele Ellicks\, Outreach Coordinator\, Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles \n  \nCost: \nFree

SUMMARY:Provider Member Webinar: Behind the Scenes of Dementia Care - The Real Work of Dementia Caregiving Across Care Networks
DESCRIPTION:Date and Time: May 12; 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. \nLocation: Online via Zoom \n**Please note this session is hosted by Conversations for Caring. Any questions regarding the session should be directed to lbulkley@glss.net. \nThis presentation seeks to expose the invisible yet highly coordinated care delivery work that family and friend caregivers perform across networks to provide care to people living with dementia—work that is best understood as a sociotechnical system with dynamic goals\, shifting demands\, and interdependent roles. \nDr. Werner will describe how this work reaches beyond hands‑on tasks to include continuous information management\, coordination\, and environment/workflow redesign\, as caregivers navigate behavioral and psychological symptoms\, assess credibility and utility of information\, and deploy real‑world strategies to overcome work‑system constraints. The presentation will map the caregiving work system\, illustrate common constraints and the practical strategies caregivers already use\, and translate these insights into concrete design implications that recognize caregivers as essential partners in care delivery for people living with dementia. \nThis session offers 2 CEUs for NASW\, LICSW\, LDAC\, LMHC and Nursing. \nRegister Here! \n  \nPresented by: \nNicole Werner\, PhD \n  \nCost: \n$35  \n**Group discounts available

SUMMARY:Provider Member Webinar: Rising Risk for Refugees and Immigrants in Massachusetts - Policy Shifts\, ICE Activity\, and Social Work Responses
DESCRIPTION:Date and Time: April 14; 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. \nLocation: Online via Zoom \n**Please note this session is hosted by Conversations for Caring. Any questions regarding the session should be directed to lbulkley@glss.net. \nRecent federal immigration directives have increased the risk of detention and enforcement for many immigrants and refugees living in U.S. communities\, including individuals who are lawfully present in Massachusetts and engaged in everyday activities such as work\, school\, and healthcare. New federal guidance and broad enforcement changes have expanded ICE activity in community settings. For social workers\, these overlapping federal actions mean that clients may experience heightened fear\, service avoidance\, family disruption\, and trauma even without changes in their personal circumstances. \nIn this webinar we will meet an IINE staff member who will share direct experience of clients who’ve faced ICE engagements.\nThis presentation will help social workers understand these federal shifts at a high level and explore their practical implications for ethical\, trauma‑informed\, and client‑centered practice. \nThis session offers 2 CEUs for NASW\, LICSW\, LDAC\, LMHC and Nursing. \nRegister Here! \n  \nPresented by: \nAlexandra Weber\, LICSW Chief Advancement Officer and Senior Vice President\, International Institute of New England \n  \nCost: \n$35 (group discounts available)

SUMMARY:Provider Member Training: Feel the Fear - Integrating Exposure into Eating Disorder Therapy
DESCRIPTION:Date and Time: March 3; 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. \nLocation: Virtual \n**Please note this session is hosted by Bridgewell’s Center for Professional Development. Any questions regarding the session should be directed to kjanjar@bridgewell.org. \nEating disorders fall under the category of “emotional disorders\,” meaning that individuals who struggle often tend to avoid situations that bring up difficult or uncomfortable emotions. Because avoidance often serves as a maintaining factor for emotional disorders\, it is essential to incorporate interventions that promote emotional approach rather than avoidance. Doing so can increase emotional tolerance and reduce reliance on eating disorder behaviors as coping strategies. \nThis workshop will examine the maintaining factors of eating disorders\, identify how avoidance patterns manifest\, and explore the core principles of exposure therapy. Participants will learn how to design and implement exposures that are creative\, safe\, and effective in promoting emotional flexibility and recovery. Attendees will also learn how to work alongside a multidisciplinary team and further clarify their role as a clinician\, even without an eating disorder specialty. Eating disorders rarely exist alone\, and so this workshop will also be useful for clinicians who have clients struggling with multiple comorbidities\, such as anxiety\, OCD\, and trauma. \nRegister Here! \n  \nAt the conclusion of this training\, participants should be able to: \n– Describe 5 common maintaining factors for eating disorders.\n– Identify 3 different types of emotional avoidance and provide specific examples as they relate to folks struggling with eating disorders.\n– Explain how to walk a client through an exposure hierarchy and plan for exposures. \n  \nPresented by: \nLacey Vogel\, LMHC \nAngela Kaloudis\, LMHC\, PMH-C \n  \nCost: \n$79 \n**Mass State Employees may attend this training for free

SUMMARY:Provider Member Training: Strategies for Supporting Youth after a Caregiver’s Overdose
DESCRIPTION:Date and Time: February 12; 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. \nLocation: Virtual \n**Please note this session is hosted by Bridgewell’s Center for Professional Development. Any questions regarding the session should be directed to kjanjar@bridgewell.org. \nWhile both fatal and nonfatal overdoses have begun to decline in the past few years\, the numbers of overdoses in the US are still in the many hundreds of thousands each year. Many people who witness or experience the fallout of an overdose\, whether fatal or non-fatal\, report experiencing the event as traumatic. This can be especially true for young people who often do not understand what is happening or why. \nWhen children and youth do not have adequate support in the aftermath of a potentially traumatic event they often internalize the experience in unhealthy and potentially harmful ways. Using case studies and interactive discussions\, this training will provide a foundation for understanding addiction and overdose and ways that children and youth often experience and respond to potentially traumatic events and grief. \nIt will introduce strategies for talking to and supporting young people and helping their caregivers with supporting them\, both in the immediate aftermath of a caregiver overdose and longer term. Participants will be given opportunities to practice some of the strategies. The training will emphasize the importance of self and community care for providers doing this work. \nRegister Here! \n  \nAt the conclusion of this training\, participants should be able to: \n– Identify risk factors\, protective factors and warning signs for substance use disorders \n– Describe the scope of fatal and nonfatal overdoses in the US \n– Name three potential ways that the impact of a caregiver overdose could show up for and impact a child \n– Differentiate between indicators that a child is experiencing grief versus trauma \n– Demonstrate different ways to support youth both in the immediate aftermath of a caregiver overdose and longer term \n  \nPresented by: \nJoanna Bridger\, LICSW\, Director\, Safety\, Hope\, & Healing Counseling & Consulting \n  \nCost: \n$79 \n**Mass State Employees may attend this training for free

SUMMARY:Provider Member Webinar: Reimagining Justice - Leading with Care in Times of Uncertainty
DESCRIPTION:Date and Time: January 15; 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. \nLocation: Online via Zoom \n**Please note that this webinar is hosted by Conversations for Caring. Any questions regarding the session should be directed to lbulkley@glss.net. \nIn this webinar\, Dr. Bailey will explore the urgent need for social work and health care providers to engage in a bold reimagining of justice—one rooted not only in advocacy and resistance\, but also in radical care\, empathy\, and relational leadership. In the midst of shifting systems and growing uncertainty\, the helping professions are uniquely positioned to model approaches to justice that are trauma-informed\, community-centered\, and equity-driven. This presentation will highlight the role that social work played historically and how it led with intention by grounding its practice in the values of dignity\, inclusion\, and transformative change. \nThrough critical reflection\, and engagement with current events\, attendees will be challenged to think expansively about the future of social work and their role in shaping it; and the role that revolutionary grace must play. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies for leading with integrity and compassion across practice settings\, organizations\, and communities—especially in times of profound disruption and change. \nThis session offers 1.5 CEUs for NASW\, LICSW\, LDAC\, LMHC and Nursing. \nRegister Here! \n  \nPresented by: \nDr. Gary Bailey\, PhD \n  \nCost: \n$25 (multi-seat discounts available)

SUMMARY:Provider Member Hosted Webinar: When the Walls Come Crumbling Down - Why Self Care Matters to You and Your Clients
DESCRIPTION:Date and Time: November 19; 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. \nLocation: Online via Zoom \n**Please note this webinar is hosted by Conversations for Caring. Any questions regarding the session should be directed to lbulkley@glss.net. \nHealthcare Providers are sometimes the last to recognize their own need for care\, often because of exhaustion\, lack of time\, and the demanding commitment to serving others. After experiencing burnout and being diagnosed with a chronic illness\, presenter Cari Ryding realized she needed to take better care of herself but at the same time remaining authentic to her practice. In learning to apply self-care principles on herself\, she emerged with a clearer understanding of how to move forward from a position of strength. \nIn this webinar\, Cari will lean on her years of caregiving and nursing leadership experience to have a deep and honest conversation about the challenges of self-care in our culture. She will identify a specific difficulty for providers and caregivers that blocks self-care and will address a comprehensive model for self-care that opens the door to releasing suffering and creating a deeper understanding of oneself. \nThis webinar is approved for 1.5 CEUs for NASW\, LICSW\, LDAC\, LMHC and Nursing. \nRegister Here! \n  \nPresented by: \nCari Ryding RN\, MSN\, OCN\, NC-BC\, Certified Professional Nurse Coach \n  \nCost: \n$25 \nMulti-seat discounts available \n

SUMMARY:Provider Member Hosted Webinar: What We Need to Know about the Immigration Crisis
DESCRIPTION:Date and Time: May 21; 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. \nLocation: Online via Zoom \n**Please note this session is hosted by Conversations for Caring. Any questions regarding the session should be directed to Liz Bulkley. \nNearly 70\,000 newcomers made Massachusetts home between July 1\, 2023 and July 1\, 2024\, the largest population increase in over a decade. Most new individuals and families hold lawful but temporary legal status that is now in jeopardy of revocation\, suspension of birthright citizenship\, and even deportation. We will explore how and why our immigrant population is so vital to our communities as we examine the rapidly changing immigration policy landscape and what is at stake for those families. We’ll explore what it means for providers whose clients are part of the immigrant community. \nMost new immigrants to the United States hold lawful but temporary legal status that the current administration has targeted— for revocation\, suspension of birthright citizenship\, and even deportation. Beyond newly arrived families\, the indefinite suspension of the refugee resettlement program and the militarization of the southern border jeopardizes safe harbor and family reunification for thousands of persecuted immigrant individuals and families. This training will look at the ways the fabric of our communities are changing and how they will shift dramatically in the face of rapidly changing policies. We’ll explore what is at stake for immigrant families going forward. \nRegister Here! \n  \nPresented by: \nAlexandra Weber\, Chief Advancement Officer and Senior Vice President at the International Institute of New England \n  \nThis session has been approved for 1.5 CEUs for NASW / LICSW / LDAC / LMHC / Nursing. \n  \nCost: \n$25 (group discounts available) \n  \n
