SUMMARY:Talking About Race and Racism in Tumultuous Times
DESCRIPTION:Date and Time: June 16; 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. \nLocation: Online via Zoom \nIntended Audience: All levels of staff including Supervisors and Managers\, Human Resources\, Leadership\, and Direct Care \nLearning Track: Equity\, Justice & Culturally Responsive Practice \nIn the U.S.\, it has become particularly challenging to engage in respectful conversations about topics such as race and racism. We will provide strategies for having meaningful conversations about these topics. In this session\, we will dig deeply into the concepts of race and racism and will address microaggressions and the importance of representation as well as how intersectionality impacts our experiences. Participants will engage in activities to reflect on their own identities and how that relates to their experiences with race and racism.
