News Council hosted legislative briefing on latest report

On June 4, the Council held a legislative briefing at the State House on its latest research report Stretched to Capacity: The workforce crisis in human services.

The briefing featured a presentation from UMDI senior researchers, Christina Citino and Sarah Young, along with remarks from Sen. Robyn Kennedy. This informational session was followed by a panel discussion including Chris White, president and CEO of Road to Responsibility; Sara McCabe, president and CEO of Wayside Youth and Family Support Network; along with Citino and Young.

“When we’re thinking about this data, this data does represent humans,” said McCabe. “It represents people that are that are asked to do some of the hardest work, and I don’t think that financial stability and emotional safety are audacious asks. I don’t think that that is too much for people to want to achieve, to have as goals.”

The Council is thankful to its panelists and Sen. Kennedy for their contributions to this event. It is also grateful to all those who were able to attend the presentation.
