Wanted: Future nonprofit leaders
The Boston Globe ran a story on the importance of securing new leaders in the nonprofit sector -- including at community-based human services providers. Jennifer Chandler of the National Council of Nonprofits, Jerry McCarthy of Northeast ARC and Michael Weekes of the Providers' Council were all featured in the front-page news story.
Nonprofits have the hard task of recruiting, retaining and training bright future leaders to ensure the stability of the sector and the most vulnerable residents whom we support. As Weekes says, "society really depends on having a strong network of nonprofit organizations with strong leadership."

A top priority for the Providers' Council is helping members develop the sectors' workforce and future leaders by offering an array of educational programs. One of these is The Leadership Initiative, an inter-agency mentoring program the Council operates in an effort to grow future leaders of the human services sector.
If you know a future leader of the nonprofit or human services sector, please encourage them to apply as a mentee of the program. The deadline is next Wednesday, May 27th.
Together, we can ensure that future leaders have the encouragement and support they need to stay in our sector.
