Tuition Remission program 2017-18 renewal is underway

The annual enrollment renewal for the Providers' Council's Tuition Remission program is underway. Member and non-member agencies that want to continue participating in the program must submit renewal applications by June 23rd. Download the form here.

The Tuition Remission program was initiated to help human service employees gain access to college education to advance their careers in the field of human services. Since then, more than 400 organizations have participated in this program, helping more than 3,700 workers attend over 20,000 classes tuition-free at Massachusetts state colleges. The Providers' Council began operating the Tuition Remission Program in the fall of 2000 upon approval from the Massachusetts Commonwealth Board of Higher Education.

In the last year alone, more than 400 courses have been taken tuition-free at approximately 30 Massachusetts community colleges and four-year state schools using this program.

This program applies to state-supported, undergraduate classes at Massachusetts state colleges, community colleges and the University of Massachusetts, upon a space availability basis. Participating employees are responsible for paying all school fees and book costs. Only tuition is remitted and this is not a reimbursement program. Students must check with the registrar or bursar to find out if the school will accept tuition remission for a class before submitting a Tuition Remission Certificate of Eligibility.

The Tuition Remission program is open to Council members and non-members alike, with members receiving a discounted registration and renewal fee. Agency renewals are due by June 23rd to ensure your staff have access to the program for the 2017-2018 school year, starting with Summer Session II.
