Speaker DeLeo receives award from Providers’ Council
The Providers' Council, the state's largest human services membership association, honored Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo on Friday, September 28 for his dedication to Winthrop youth and human services workers who provide essential services to one in ten Massachusetts residents.
Speaker DeLeo led efforts in the House in July to override Governor Patrick's veto of the Salary Reserve, a fund designed to give a modest salary increase to direct care workers, including those in the Winthrop and Revere areas. North Suffolk Mental Health Association President and CEO Jackie K. Moore, Winthrop Public Schools Superintendent John Macero and several studetns joined Providers' Council President & CEO Michael Weekes to thank DeLeo and present him the award.
