Providers’ Council’s Board of Directors issues position statement on revenues

The Providers’ Council’s Board of Directors on Friday afternoon encouraged its membership, elected officials and the general public to support an increase of $1.9 billion in tax revenue to fund human services, early education, infrastructure and other essential public needs.

“While we are mindful that the array of tax increases, credits and exemptions may change – as the Governor has suggested – the important imperative is that our sector encourages elected officials and the public to support a tax increase initiative that is necessary to protect and support our human services community,” the statement reads. “We believe that any changes to our tax code must be fair, equitable and progressive, and it must protect the interests of the low-income people we serve, as well as our workforce.”
