Member exclusive voter engagement webinar Sept. 20
The November election is right around the corner and the Providers’ Council, through our CareVote initiative, is urging nonprofits to “voterize” their stakeholders by holding voter registration and information sessions for everyone reached by those organizations.
To get our members started, the Council will host a free, 60-minute voter-engagement webinar on Tuesday, September 20 at 2 p.m. Sponsored by CareVote and The Caring Force, the webinar will be led by our national partner NonprofitVOTE.
This member-exclusive webinar will address how to best assist individuals with disabilities at the polls; the importance of local elections; how to talk about the ballot questions with your stakeholders; what exactly a 501(c)(3) can do in the election process; mobilizing undocumented individuals (to urge them to get their family and friends to vote); and the process of re-registering to vote after incarceration.
Research from NonprofitVOTE has shown that overall voter turnout rises when nonprofit organizations engage their stakeholders – employees, volunteers, clients, consumers, families and friends – in the electoral process. Additionally, voting increases among those populations that have been historically underrepresented, marginalized and disenfranchised when these individuals are registered and engaged through a trusted nonprofit organization.
Register today to learn more about voter engagement on September 20. More tools and resources are available here. Questions about the Council's webinar may be e-mailed to Christine Batista.
Important voting and election dates to remember are:
Tuesday, September 27: National Voter Registration Day
Wednesday, October 19: Last day to register to vote in the general election
Tuesday, November 8: Election Day 2016
