Join the Council’s growing roster of mentors

We’re building our bench in order to help you build yours.

The Providers’ Council’s mentoring program, The Leadership Initiative (TLI), is building a roster of potential mentors to be able to make the best professional and geographic matches possible for participants.

The Leadership Initiative is an inter-agency program of the Providers’ Council that aims to grow the future leaders of the human services sector and to help address the leadership vacuum that will form as many baby boomers retire over the coming years. This program is open to employees of the Council’s member agencies. Mentors are senior management-level professionals who have knowledge and expertise to share with an emerging leader.

As a mentor, you are:

  • Cultivating the leadership skills and enhancing the professional development of the sector’s future leaders;
  • Helping keep the best talent in the sector;
  • Creating a collaborative environment among member agencies that allows for the sharing of resources, ideas and knowledge about the sector.

The inter-agency aspect of the program allows for open, straightforward communication between mentors and mentees. Many of our former mentors say they receive as much from working with their mentees than they give. It has been called “energizing” and a type of “self-care.”

Every effort is made to create a match that is meaningful to everyone involved, and by building a bench of mentors, the Council will be able to better pair people based on background, experience, goals and geographic location. Mentors will not necessarily be paired each cycle. Apply today to become a roster mentor.

Applications are also currently being accepted for the next iteration of TLI, slated to begin this fall. Learn more here. Contact Ella Froggatt with questions about The Leadership Initiative.
