Council joins 200+ other nonprofits in opposing IRS regs
The Providers' Council on Tuesday joined more the National Council of Nonprofits, Independent Sector and more than 200 other nonprofit organizations in calling on the Internal Revenue Service to withdraw a proposed regulation that would have charitable nonprofits collect and report donors’ Social Security numbers to the IRS.
The Providers' Council brought the proposal to the attention of its collective membership on Friday, December 11 and sought its members' support to formally oppose the IRS proposed regulation. Council members responding were unanimous in their opinion that the Council should oppose the IRS proposal.
To date, more than 17,000 comments have been submitted to the IRS, many in opposition to the proposed regulation.
