Council holds legislative briefing at State House
The Providers' Council held a legislative briefing on human services at the State House for House freshmen, other representatives and legislative aides on Wednesday, February 13.
Providers' Council President and CEO Michael Weekes discussed the history of human services, the Council's work on such initiatives as Chapter 257 of the Acts of 2008 and the Salary Reserve, and the Council's priorities in the 2013-2014 legislative session.
Weekes was joined by Council members who helped illustrate the importance of the Council's advocacy efforts and how the organization's pro-workforce legislative agenda could help them and their workers in the coming years. Other speakers included:
- Sheri McCann, Providers' Council Board Chair
- Nancy Munson, Bristol Elder Services
- Dan Lannan, NuPath, Inc.
- Serena Powell, Community Work Services
- Michael Moloney, HMEA (Chair, The Caring Force Committee)
The event gave the Council an opportunity to discuss the sector in greater detail, talk about the history of human services in Massachusetts, and meet representatives and legislative aides.
