News Council, Boston College seeking social enterprise projects

The Providers’ Council has partnered with Boston College School of Social Work to help grow social enterprise in the community-based nonprofit sector.

Boston College is looking for projects to take on this fall as part of its Creating and Sustaining Social Enterprises course. If your organization is looking to create a social enterprise or expand an existing one, this is a great opportunity to receive free consulting services from teams of graduate students, who will do the data gathering and budget analysis and organize their conclusions in a business plan for the enterprise effort. The teams also make a final presentation for their classmates, organization representatives and the Council that includes feedback and suggestions from other students in the class.

BC’s School of Social Work graduate students have worked on projects over the years for a number of Council members, including Bridgewell, Casa Myrna, Cardinal Cushing Centers, HMEA, New England Village, Pine Street Inn, Road to Responsibility and ServiceNet.

Request for Proposal applications are being accepted through Friday, July 27th. After all proposals are submitted, the Providers’ Council and Boston College will review and determine which agencies will be paired with the students. Applicants will be informed either way.

To apply, please fill out this form and return it to Ella Froggatt by Friday, July 27th. You can find more information on innovation and social enterprise online here.
