Council and AGO Hold Information Session on Earned Sick Time
The Providers' Council and the Attorney General's Office held an information session on July 31 to educate employers and employees about the Earned Sick Time Law, which went into effect July 1.
The session provided guidance on implementation, explain employers' and employees' rights and responsibilities and provide opportunities to get specific questions answered. Members also raised several points that require further clarification on the part of the Attorney General's Office.
Shane Blundell and Morgan Callahan from the AG's Office made the presentation and answer questions. The session was moderated by Ron Ardine, CFO of They Key Program.
The Earned Sick Time Law was approved by the voters and entitles employees in Massachusetts to earn and use up to 40 hours of paid sick time under certain conditions. The Attorney General's Office enforces this law and also wrote and published final regulations to clarify practices and policies in its administration. More information, including the final regulations and sample documents, may be found on the Attorney General's Earned Sick Time webpage.
