Celebrate Direct Service Professionals Sept. 13 - Sept. 19
Gov. Charlie Baker and Senators Elizabeth Warren and Edward Markey have officially declared the second full week of September Direct Service Professional Recognition Week in Massachusetts. While the Providers' Council and our members celebrate our sector's direct service staff throughout the year, we encourage our members to find more ways to highlight their incredible contributions the week of September 13 through September 19.
Our direct support professionals are truly the backbone of the human services sector, and our elected officials have recognized them by proclaiming next week in their honor. Visit the American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR) website for ideas on how to celebrate throughout the week.
Direct support professionals include direct care workers, residential staff, personal assistants, personal attendants, in-home supports workers and paraprofessionals. DSPs provide support in helping those with disabilities, and others in need, lead a meaningful life at home, at work and in their communities.
Let us know how you are honoring direct support professionals at your organization, and we may share pictures or stories in an upcoming edition our Providers' Council eDigest. You can email pictures and stories to Christine Mikiewicz.
The Providers' Council salutes all of the Commonwealth's direct service professionals in every part of our sector for their hard work and their commitment to our most vulnerable residents. Without them, the human services industry could not achieve its objectives of helping all individuals reach their potential.
