The American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR) has alerted us that thanks to efforts led by U.S. Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Susan Collins (R-ME), the U.S. Senate unanimously approved a resolution designating next week as "National Direct Support Professional Recognition Week." Disability services providers across the country will mark the week by hosting celebrations to honor their direct support professionals.

Each of the states has filed a blueprint for creating a Health Insurance Marketplace (formerly known as the American Health Benefit Exchanges). These Exchanges are projected to be operational on January 1, 2014. Under the regulations, a large employer's potential Shared Responsibility Penalty may be avoided, or postponed, for some group health plans. We expect to continue to be inundated with new guidance and regulations in the coming months as the commencement of State Exchanges nears.
