SHATTUCK-EMERGENCY SHELTER

LOCATION: 170 Morton St, Jamaica Plain, MA

SCHEDULE: 16 hours, Sunday and Monday 11:00pm-7:00am

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Overnight Shift Coordinator will assist guests in accessing services and necessities such as food, clothing, toiletries, and medical care.  The incumbent will provide information to guests regarding shelter policies and procedures as well as shelter related services and Programs.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

•  Effective computer skills/knowledge
•  High School diploma or GED
•  Minimum of one (1)  to two (2) years’ experience working in a human services setting
•  Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
•  CPR and CPI certified or willingness to become certified upon hire
•  Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills
•  Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time,
•  Ability to stretch, bend, and lift guests when necessary
•  Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations
•  Ability to respond appropriately in a crisis situation
•  Ability to exercise sound judgment and make good decisions
•  Ability to set limits as well as treat guests fairly and respectfully regardless of behavioral issues
•  Ability to multi task and perform a wide array of tasks at once
