Compliance and Ethics: A Valuable Partnership in Social Services

In social services, agencies are often faced with complex matters regarding compliance and are held to a high expectation for ethical practice in their work. Because it is impossible to monitor compliance 100 percent of the time, ethics and compliance have to go hand in hand. Both are necessary in the work you do. Compliance means conforming to rules, specifications, policies, standards and laws, while ethics are the moral principles that govern a person’s or group’s behaviors. Learn how compliance and ethics work together to strengthen your organization.

This training will cover:

  • Mandated reporting: When are you required to report suspected abuse and neglect, and to whom?
  • Confidentiality: HIPAA/ Massachusetts Privacy Laws:  What’s the difference and why do you need to know?
  • Boundaries: Maintaining boundaries, and the risks involved when you overstep them.
  • Social media: The pros and cons of how it has changed the work that you do.
