Council awards Providers' Council / Simmons College Dean's Leadership Award

Jorge Pérez, the director of youth services at the New North Citizens' Council in Springfield, was named the 2010 recipient of the Providers' Council / Simmons College Dean's Leadership Award at the Council's Annual Business Meeting today.

"I feel like I won the lottery," Pérez said. "It has been years of work and dedication, and it's nice to see people recognize that. I look forward to the challenges in the future."

Pérez will earn an MSW and a Certificate in Urban Leadership in Clinical Social Work (ULP). This scholarship covers full tuition (valued over $55,000) for the extended (part-time) program.

The Council's selection was inspired by the memory of the late Dr. Barbara Brown, a leading advocate for education in our sector.
